1 The Authentic You:
Start by remembering who you are and whom you belong to. You are an original, one of a kind, unique in every area of your being. You were not created to be a copy or an imitator of anyone. You have a divine purpose in business that no one but you can fulfill. Keep in mind that networking is about being genuine and authentic, building trust and relationships, and seeing how you can help others with your business.
2 Pick one area of expertise:
Pick one area of specialty and keep it simple. How do you want people to identify you, not your business but you? By selecting one area to specialize in; you will be able to give your listener a clear understanding of your expertise without confusing them with multiple businesses. When networking it is important to plant the seed of who you are and what you do, then allow it to grow. Be known for one thing and be good at it. Be known as the expert in your specialized field.
3 Position yourself to network:
When entering a room position yourself to network. Identify someone you know who is standing in the center of the room and slowly move towards them. Once there you will receive a greeting and introduction, the rest is up to you. Remember, only “Wall Flowers” stand around the wall. The action is always in the center of the room.
4 Pitch your Mission:
What can you say about your business, mission, vision, accomplishments, in 30 seconds that would perk the interest of someone to say “schedule an appointment I would like to meet with you”? Take the time to memorize your mission statement and outline your elevator pitch. Then time yourself and see how well you articulate your mission within the allotted time.
5 Promote yourself with business Cards:
business Cards are an important marketing tool if used correctly. A business card says “I would like to connect with you.” Have you ever asked someone for a business card and they said “I’m out or I just gave my last one away” they could be sending a message that I am not interested in connecting. Order extra cards and find innovative ways to distributing them. Try writing a comment or two on the back that will help you to identify the person
